Welcome to Kandi’s Cakes and Bake Shop. I’m glad you’re here. It’s taken a little while, but we made it. I started in the business some 32 years ago at the ripe age of 20. My first memories of our local Bakery began early on as my grandmother and I would visit our hometown bakery each Saturday for a chocolate donut and an éclair. To this day the éclair is still my favorite thing we make. My mom worked there, and soon I would ask for a job myself. With the opportunity to make .15 more cents on the hour who wouldn’t be game! So, my journey began. I must say I loved it! I learned everything I know from the best! Working for Howell’s Bakery and ultimately Whitman’s Bakery how could I be more fortunate? In 1999 I was able to purchase Main Street Bakery and Sandwich Shop. I owned the two businesses for 2 years. However, the timing was not right, so I sold and continued to work for Whitman’s Bakery. The years quickly passed, kids grew up and Whitman’s sold. My mentors began their much deserved and earned retirement. Me, not bake? Not hardly! I then began a home-based bakery offering mostly cake and cream horns. The business quickly grew! Holly, my niece would be my faithful sidekick as we tried to figure out a plan. In July of 2015, after much prayer and consideration, we decided to open a small storefront named Kandi’s Cakes and Bake Shop. We have been blessed far beyond anything we could have expected. We are blessed to work alongside family and friends to offer our hometown “simple, traditional goodness”. We like to follow the old paths and add a little “trend” along the way. It is our desire to be found faithful and honest. We try to be the best we possibly can, with customer service being number one. We live here. We were born here. We will remain here. We are honored to be chosen to celebrate the special moments of your life. We can’t wait to part of “your” story!
